From the former committee, thank you very much to the whole of DramSoc for making this year such a fantastic one. We're very proud of all the events and shows this year and we are excited to reflect on the progress the society has made and the future it is sure to enjoy. Good luck to all!

DON'T MISS the LAST performance of THE BOUNDARY by Stoppard and Exton. TONIGHT.
This play has been enjoying a great run this week during Arts and Media Festival and will go up for the last time tonight. 7.30pm, MR5c (fifth floor of union). Free admission, duration 30 minutes.

election time! 2nd march is the big day!

Would you like to be a decision-maker?

Are you passionate about the theatre life of the university?

Do you like working with other people (particularly theatrical ones!)?

Can you motivate?

Do you like organising events?

Want to know what’s going on in the theatre calendar way before everyone else?!

You could stand for a position on the DramSoc Committee 07-08 and be part of the passionate group of people who make things happen from now until March 2008. You’ll meet to discuss projects and organise exciting events, maintaining the status of DramSoc as a continuously active society, and also devising new, amazing projects of your own. Each year a new committee gets together to take over the running of DramSoc and to push it forward. We encourage you to stand for one of the twelve vital roles on the committee:

President – overall leader and representative of the society.

Vice-President-Chair – shares management, chairs meetings.

Treasurer – manages the money

Secretary – administration, takes the minutes of meetings, keeps everybody in line.

Communications Rep – writes the emails and keeps everyone in the know.

New Writing Rep – point of contact for all student playwrights, organises showcases like Who Dares Writes and also the annual Playwriting Competition.

Play Reading Rep – runs the play reading group.

Workshops Rep – arranges theatre workshops both within Dramsoc and with external companies like the National Student Drama Festival.

Webmaster – creates and manages the official website and any other web based publicity.

Ents Rep – organises socials and forms social links with the other performing arts societies.

STA Rep – liaises with the Stage Technicians’ Association and reports any technical developments that might affect productions. Also arranges for DramSoc members to be trained as technical crew for shows.

Stores Rep – manages the union stores of props and costumes and is the point of contact for production teams needing these things.

The Elections will take place on FRIDAY 2nd MARCH, at 3 o’clock, as part of our Annual General Meeting. Before then, please let Maddie know if you are thinking of running for a position, share your thoughts and ask any questions.

Of course, elections wouldn’t be elections without VOTERS! The whole society is warmly invited and encouraged to come to the meeting. We need loads of you to come and vote on the day. It would be fantastic to see all our members at the meeting where you can express your views on how the society should continue into next year.

ARTS and MEDIA FESTIVAL - What's Playing

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our programme for the Festival has changed. We are so sorry not to be able to show you HUIS CLOS - NO WAY OUT and OLD FAITHFUL, as we had planned. HOWEVER, we do still have the glitteringly funny THE BOUNDARY, which will play for three nights, March 5th, 7th and 9th at 7.30pm.

THE BOUNDARY by Tom Stoppard and Clive Exton.
--An intense one-act comedy in 40 minutes, full of hilarious misunderstandings and wordplay
. The library of two lexicographers has been overturned and they attempt to salvage the ruins of the dictionary they have spent years compiling. As they sift through the papers, trying to sort them into boxes, there is much confusion and disastrous misunderstanding. A fascinating and hilarious play centred on the bizarre world of these two incompetent and repressed academics.
--Directed by Benjamin Lister

No need to book because it's FREE as part of Arts and Media Festival! Just come along early and secure your seat.

Just a little note to welcome a new member to the committee...

Introducing DramSoc's very first Play Reading Representative: Ben Lister.

He shall be leading fortnightly sessions of play reading, at which all members are most welcome. Just email him if you would like to attend so he has an idea of numbers when choosing plays.

Something brilliant this way comes....

'TRASH - The Seven Ages' goes up THIS THURSDAY 26th OCTOBER! For anyone who's a bit mystified, TRASH stands for That Really Arty Show. It's DramSoc's sketch show which happens every year to welcome new members; it always has a theme, and this year, it is THE SEVEN AGES. Seven short plays - new writing, adaptations, one act plays - each conveying one of the ages. It's a heady mix of Roald Dahl, Dickens and Sophocles, and lots more besides, AND there's a big colourful wheel on stage.

Excited?

Reserve your tickets online! www.sta.bris.ac.uk/tickets
Don't miss it! You can also buy tickets on the door...
